So long and thanks for all the fish

Well well well…here we are on the last day of Phase II of our Wedding Threesome Contest and not posting a blog until almost 10pm.  It’s been a wild ride, kids – we’ve seen a whole lotta love coming to us from all parts of the world, a few celebrity appearances and even a couple of people stopped by after entering “spur-of-the-moment threesome” into their search engines (we can only hope they were the only ones who were disappointed!).  But in the end, what this has really been is a great opportunity to share our pre-wedding excitement with a whole bunch of folks who otherwise would not have been privy to all the gory details.  So while we fully plan to blow Phase III out of the water (whatever it may be), win or lose we’ve had some fun and connected with family, friends and strangers all across the globe.  Pretty frakking cool if you ask us.

And since so many people have been so amazing as to send us their love in the form of photos and hand-written messages of support, we figured it was only fair that we do the same.  Here goes nothing!

And of course, we had to get a “family” shot:

Fezz is like: “It was all me.  I owned this blog”.

Chris is like: “Stop pretending that the cat can talk”

But seriously, a great big heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone out there who’s been reading and clicking through, as well as again to all of those who helped us get to this phase of the contest by liking/adding/joining and commenting their butts off on Facebook back in March!  We couldn’t have done it without you…or Fezz.

All our love,

Jaime & Chris

The 4-hour Engagement

A post by Chris

About a year ago, before we were engaged, Jaime and I decided it was time to make a change in our diets. Being together we had gotten comfortable and both put on a little extra weight.  We began very simply by removing simple carbs from our dinners.  It was surprisingly quite easy to do, and we decided we weren’t going to be too strict or stress ourselves out (like worrying if we ate out and didn’t have a no-carb option).  We just wanted to feel better.

In the summer of 2011 I read a book by Tim Ferriss called The 4-Hour Body.  I was already a fan of Tim’s work from his first novel, The 4-Hour Workweek.  In the new book, Tim outlines a nutrition plan that he calls the “Slow carb diet”.  This was taking our improved eating habits up a notch. Funny thing about getting married…

As any good nerd couple knows, an entire evening can easily be consumed sitting side by side in the computer room, browsing the web and sharing funny or cool things with one another.  Chris is usually in there in the evening playing a game or watching a podcast anyway, but once a week or so we completely nerd out together and manage to kill several hours this way.  Chris is always finding whatever is weirdest, wildest and most wonderful online, and it should come as no surprise that Jaime’s “shares” are usually cat-related (see About Fezzik).  Anyway, the other night we found ourselves on a roll again and the topic was, also not surprisingly, marriage.

While most jokes about matrimony, as anticipated, consisted largely of the same negative messages of women complaining about chores and men complaining about lack of freedom, we did find a few that we thought were so funny and/or cute we thought we’d share.   So here are your Friday smiles a day early…happy Easter/Passover/long weekend blog-readers!

1) This first one seemed appropriate given the contest and all

All the cool kids are doing it

Further updates to Team Jaime & Chris thanks to some amazing friends and friendly strangers!

First up?  Dennis Wideman.  As you may have seen on facebook, Dennis plays for the Washington Capitals and is 5th in scoring in the NHL for defencemen.  He also leads the caps in minutes played and was named to the NHL All Star team in 2012!  Now he’s on a much more elite team as well ;)

The Theme (or “The Bride Who Never Wanted to be a Bride”)

A rather long post by Jaime

First of all, before anyone starts thinking that I am doing this against my will, allow me to clarify on the title of this post: have I always wanted to get married?  Yes, absolutely.  Have I always wanted a wedding?  Not until recently, and now that I do it’s not at all for the reasons I thought I would. Funny Marriage Quotations – Your Friday Smile

Friday night is a busy night for most folks, so we’ll keep this one brief…a few funny (and hopefully not completely negative and depressing) quotes about marriage to send you into the weekend!

“I love being married. It’s so great to find that one special person you want to annoy for the rest of your life.” - Rita Rudner Continue reading

This is Fezzik (aka the cat)

So by now you’ve hopefully learned a little bit more about the bride and groom as well as our siblings, but no Jaime & Chris blog would be complete if we didn’t spend at least one day’s post on The Fezz.

If it weren’t for Chris’ offer to wed her, Jaime would be well on her way to becoming the proverbial “crazy cat lady”.  We got him as a kitten in October of 2010 and we both love Fezzik, but Jaime is more than a little obsessed.  And for good reason – he is virtually the coolest cat ever to walk the earth.  He’s actually like a weird combination of Chris and Jaime’s personalities: laid back and chill one minute, completely and utterly insane the next.  He keeps us on our toes!  But here’s the full scoop…

Darryl Sittler joins a new team

Darryl Sittler:  A native of St. Jacobs, Ontario, you may remember him from such teams as your Toronto Maple Leafs, with whom he set the still-standing record for most goals scored in a single game (against the Boston Bruins on February 7, 1976).
